The Arkansas State University Wind Ensemble, directed by Dr. Timothy Oliver, affirmed its status as the university’s flagship instrumental concert ensemble in an extremely strong showing as it presented its first concert of the 2022-2023 season on September 27 at the Fowler Center. The program, which featured several challenging parts for the percussion section, consisted of “Early Light” by Carolyn Bremer, “Overture in C” by Charles Simon Catel, “Symphony No. 6 for Band” by Vincent Persichetti, and “Petenera” by Luis Serrano Alarcón.
Huge congratulations are in order to Dr. Oliver and the entire ensemble for an outstanding performance, including percussionists Matthew Brown, Timothy Haney, Matthew Hardin, Joshua Huffstutler, Trinity Peeler, Tanner Tyler, and Eric Watson. The next A-State band concert will be the Symphonic Winds concert on October 6 at 7:30pm in Riceland Hall.
