A-State Hosts Omojo Percussion Duo

The Arkansas State University Department of Music is set to welcome the Omojo Percussion Duo, consisting of Dr. Oliver Molina (Northwestern State University) and Dr. Joe W. Moore III (University of Louisiana Monroe), for a full day of teaching and performing on Friday, October 7. The day's public events will include a clinic/masterclass at 12:00pm and a duo concert at 5:30pm, with a pre-concert discussion at 5:00pm. Additionally, the two percussionists will offer individual lessons and/or ensemble coaching earlier in the day to current A-State percussion students.

As Dr. Moore recounts on his website, he and Dr. Molina met during their undergraduate studies together at the University of Central Florida and first performed together in 2004. In the nearly two decades since then, the members of Omojo have remained close as a duo and as percussion professors based in the state of Louisiana. They have spent much of their time together championing new music for percussion duo, and they have commissioned, composed, and performed numerous works together.

The 5:00pm pre-concert discussion and 5:30pm duo concert will both take place in the A-State Fine Arts Center's Recital Hall, and are open to the public and free of charge.
