A-State Percussion Ensembles Prepare for Their November 3 Concert

The newly-formed Red Wolf Percussion Group (RWPG) and University Percussion Ensemble (UPE) will present their inaugural concert, "A Night of Percussion," on November 3rd under the direction of new percussion professor Dr. Brian Graiser.

The evening's program is a mixture of well-known repertoire and obscure gems. Both ensembles will combine to perform the Rolling Meditation by Pauline Oliveros before the concert officially begins, leading into the UPE's half of the program. The UPE will perform the October Mountain suite by Alan Hovhaness, featuring sophomore Tanner Tyler on solo marimba, followed by Peter Garland's ethereal Apple Blossom and concluding with Three Brothers by Michael Colgrass. The second half of the program will belong to the RWPG, who will perform an arrangement of Claude Debussy's elegant Arabesque No. 1 and conclude the concert with Brett Dietz's cacophonous Sharpened Stick.

The concert will take place on Thursday, November 3rd at 7:30pm in Riceland Hall at the Fowler Center located on the campus of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. The concert is open to the public and free of charge, and will also be live-streamed on the A-State Department of Music's Facebook page.
